What is Castile soap?
Castilla soap is a pure liquid soap that contains no preservatives, thickeners or other additives. It is made from coconut oil and sunflower oil. The soap is high quality and very softening to the skin. It is ideal for daily cleaning of hands and body.

How do you use Castile soap?
Castile soap is ideal as a shampoo for dry hair care. For normal to oily hair, the protective film left by glycerine may seem a little too heavy!
For hand soap: Use the soap pure as it is, or mix a little extra heated coconut oil and an essential oil to add scent.
Dry hairFor optimal care, you can add a little coconut oil to your hair for a conditioner effect before bathing and washing with this soap.
Normal to oily hair: If this shampoo doesn't bother you, you can add around 75 drops of lavender essential oil or citronella oil for optimal care (with 250 ml of soap). This neutralises its enveloping effect. After washing, rinse your hair with water and preferably apple cider vinegar (approx. 2 tsp vinegar to 1/2 litre of water). Don't worry, your hair won't smell like vinegar.
How to use: Suitable for washing hands, body and hair.

The story behind Castile soap
Castile Soap or Castilla soap is one of the most popular European soaps whose history follows the expansion of Aleppo, one of the most important soaps ever made.
After millennia of use in Syria, the famous soap from the city of Aleppo went on a long Travelling across the Silk Road and reached Asia and the Middle East and Persia, where it was first noticed by Europeans. During the 11th century, crusaders came across cartloads of Aleppo soap and saw how it was made during their stay in the Holy Land.
Upon returning home, they brought with them large quantities of different products that weren't available in Europe and began finding ways to create these products (or close variations of them) using ingredients and tools they had at their disposal.
After Aleppo soap came to Europe and began to revolutionise both public and personal hygiene (which was a serious problem in the Middle Ages, often leading to the rampant spread of various diseases).
Initially produced locally, European soap was localised to the Mediterranean region, which slowly began to spread with the arrival of Muslim soap makers in Spain and Italy during the 12th century.
It was with their dedication and inventions that organised European production came into full swing, allowing Spanish cities of Malaga, Cartagena, Castile, Alicante and Italian cities such as Savona, Genoa, Naples, Bologna and Venice to become soap export centres throughout Europe.
Among all the early European-made soaps, one soap managed to distinguish itself from the others, with its high quality and ability to cleanse better than others. This was Castile soap or Castile soap.
The wonderful properties of Castile soap
According to several doctors, putting chemicals on your skin can actually be worse than eating them. This is because chemicals on the skin are absorbed into the bloodstream without any of the filtering that would otherwise occur if the toxins passed through the digestive system. With unprecedented levels of exposure to such toxins, we don't know the cumulative effects of long-term use.
Castilla soap contains only vegetable-based ingredients such as coconut oil, olive oil, hemp oil and jojoba oil with water and possibly essential oils.
This makes Castilla soap much healthier for the skin than many of the other moisturisers we use.
As the soap is based on vegetable oils - unlike expensive (tallow) fat-based soaps - castilla soap is a cleaner soap suitable for vegans.
Due to its natural ingredients and no added essential oils, the soap is extremely mild and therefore safe for babies, although it should be kept away from the eye.
Both dogs and cats can also be washed with this pure soap (without added essential oil) as it will not irritate their skin or build up on their fur.
