Allergy test: Test yourself for product allergies - avoid redness and irritation

Allergy test

HIf you're one of those unfortunate individuals who have a constant battle with hay fever, asthma, food allergies or intolerance to many other substances, you may unfortunately also be more prone to developing contact dermatitis from the use of certain vegetable oils as well as essential oils and other raw materials.

Very rarely, people who do not have these symptoms may also have an allergy to these products. We therefore ALWAYS recommend that you perform a so-called skin test (allergy test) before using new products on your body.

Allergies to vegetable or essential oils and other raw materials

It's all about being on the safe side. Even if you don't normally have allergies, you may actually be allergic to a certain natural product.

Most people can tolerate vegetable oils without much trouble, but it's better to be safe than sorry by doing a test.

When it comes to essential oilsthen the risk is far greater, which is why you always should test before use when using these oils. The risk of developing allergies when using essential oils is also much higher than with vegetable oils. Therefore, you should continuously monitor your body's signals.

Unfortunately, it also happens that some people develop contact allergies when using other natural products, such as mineral clay. That's why it's always a good idea to do a skin test first.

Allergy test - Test the oils on your own skin before use

An allergic reaction to pure essential oils as well as vegetable oils is usually rare, and in many cases it has been found that most people are more likely to be allergic to synthetic copies of natural oils or so-called oil-free, which is made up of several other synthetic chemicals designed to either make the oil cheaper for the manufacturer or to achieve a longer shelf life.

CHLEOPATRA only sells 100% pure oils without the use of chemicals or preservatives.

Hypersensitivity to a particular component of an essential or vegetable oil can occur in some people, and prolonged exposure to the same oil can therefore also cause hypersensitivity in some people.

If you're having trouble with a very sensitive skinin particular, it is recommended that you perform a allergy testbefore using any essential or vegetable oils for the first time.

Allergy test

It's a good idea to do an allergy test before you start using vegetable or essential oils on your body. This is especially important if you already suffer from allergies or if you have very sensitive skin. But be aware that anyone can have an allergic reaction, so it's better to be safe than sorry and do a test regardless.

How to test your skin for allergies

If you have never used any type of base oil or essential oil on your skin, it is recommended that you first do an allergy test for the oil you intend to use.

  • Allergy test your skin to vegetable oils

Basic vegetable oils can be used directly on the skin. You can therefore read on about the test itself.

  • Allergy test your skin to essential oils

You must never use essential oils directly on the skinThese oils are simply too concentrated (powerful) - and for most people, this will trigger an undesirable reaction and can have toxic effects on the body.

You should therefore always mix essential oils with a vegetable oilsuch as almond oil or apricot kernel oil.

Simply take one drop of essential oil and mix with approximately 5 ml of vegetable oil. From this mixture, you can now take a drop and apply it to the skin, as in the test below.

Never use essential oils undiluted

How to test for product allergies

  • Apply a small amount of the product - a drop of oil should be enough, or a similarly small amount of other products - to the inside of your wrist or forearm and leave it uncovered for 24 hours.
If you are testing a clay mask, you should only leave it on until just before it is completely dry.
  • Do not wash this area during this period.
  • If there are no signs of itching, redness or swelling after 24 hours, it is safe to assume that you are not allergic to the oil and can use it without complications.

If, on the other hand, you experienceIf you develop a rash, itching, redness or other irritation, it is reasonably safe to assume that you are intolerant to this product. You should therefore refrain from using it.

Sensitive skin is not the same as allergies and sensitivities

Fortunately, very few people are allergic to pure oils and should therefore avoid using them altogether, or at least have different oils tested.

Conversely, it is not certain that only people with sensitive skin can have allergic reactions to oil, and it is therefore always recommended that you carry out an allergy test if you are using a vegetable or essential oil for the first time.

All CHLEOPATRA labels carry the following text

For external use only. Do not use if you have an allergy to nuts of any kind. Avoid contact with eyes. If irritation, redness or discomfort occurs, stop use immediately and seek medical advice.

This doesn't mean it's all that dangerous, but for allergy sufferers, quite serious cases can occur, so it's always best to be safe and act responsibly no matter what you put on your body.
